Using the Photo Gallery

We use the morfeoShow gallery component in our CMS websites. This is a brief guide on using it...

Starting a New Gallery

  1. Log into the Adminstration backend
  2. Navigate to Components / MorfeoShow / Galleries
  3. Click on New morfeo_new
  4. Enter in a Title for your Gallery. You don't need to type anything more in, unless you want too.
  5. Select a Gallery Format from the dropdown box morfeo_simpleviewer. This sets the style of the Gallery that your visitors will see. For a moving slide show, use Flash Slideshow. For a page by page browsing, use Flash Simpleviewer.
  6. Click Save when you are done morfeo_save.

Note: The other Settings on the right have been setup for you. We would not advise you change these settings unless you really know what you are doing.

Your New Gallery will be shown on your Gallery page of your website.

However, if you would like to embed the gallery into another page, type the Plugin ID "{morfeo X}" into your page during page editing. (Replace X with your gallery ID as shown in the Manage Galleries page).

Now you are ready to upload the photos...

Uploading images to your gallery...

  1. Log into the Adminstration backend
  2. Navigate to Components / MorfeoShow / Galleries
  3. Click on Upload morfeo_upload
  4. Browse for you image to upload. Note: reduce your photos first to a maximum of 800x600 (or less). See the FAQ on PowerTools for a neato image resizer.
  5. Fill in the Title, and Description if you like (but its not neccesarry).
  6. Click on the Save Image button.

Managing the images to your gallery...

  1. Log into the Adminstration backend
  2. Navigate to Components / MorfeoShow / Galleries
  3. Click on Images morfeo_img along the Gallery you would like to manage.
  4. You should now see your images. Edit or delete your image as needed.

Hey Thanks, it really works when I changed the Nav Position from Bottom to Top.

However, I tried doing some changes but still could not display the caption if I want the nav position to be at the Bottom. Could you find a workaround in it ?

Also, I like to ask another question. How do I include my "Joomla Created Side Menu" into morfeoshow ? --> When I click the gallery I created in the side menu, my gallery displays but my "Joomla Created Side Menu" gone missing too..

Hi Lee Wei Ming,
It does work - but it takes a bit of messing about. Most likely it is been displayed out of view.

First - the object box that the flash viewer is in needs to be large enough. This is set in Galleries/your gallery/Simple Viewer settings. Make this large like 1000 High and 800 Wide for starters.

Now go into Settings/simpleview gallery settings. Keep in mind that the Nav bar and Image need to fit in the object box - or the text will get pushed out. So make the image 640x480, Columns 6, Rows 2, Nav Position Top, Align v Top.

I think the text is always below the Nav thumbnails. The text that is displayed is the Description text.

Big tip: these changes don't take effect until you load another image into the Gallery.

Also the 640 height does not get saved - thats a morfeoshow bug.

To save time, you can edit the xml file that simpleviewer uses directly. Its found /images/morfeoshow/your gallery/xml

Hope that Help!
